Christian Ambrosius is research associate in economics at the interdisciplinary research project “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood” at Freie Universität Berlin (www.sfb-governance.de). He studied at the University of Leipzig, the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (IEP) in Paris, Freie Universität Berlin, and the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) in Berlin.
He gained a first degree (Diplom, equivalent to a Master’s degree) in political sciences and a second Master's degree in international and development economics. During and after his studies he spent time in Morocco and Egypt, for research and language courses. Between 2004 and 2006 he worked on environmental projects in Mexico City. His Ph.D. is on the impact of migrant remittances on the financial sector of remittance-receiving countries.
