Ramata Molo Thioune
Is an experienced rural economist and environmentalist who oversees the IDRC's research in women's rights, and information and communication technologies for development. Her work is focused in West and Central Africa. Projects under her direction include studies of how to promote women's economic rights, protect the rights of migrant women, and use ICTs to improve economic and social well-being. Before joining IDRC in 1999, Ramata worked on rural development projects with several national and international organizations.
She was also a lecturer at Saint-Louis University in Senegal. She has published on topics such as female genital mutilation and the potential of ICTs in education and community development. She holds postgraduate de gree in enviromental science and rural economics.
